Types of Solutions

  1. A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two substances. In such a case, we can say that one substance is dissolved in another substance.
    1. The solute is the substance which is dissolved.
    2. The solvent is the substance in which the solute is dissolved.
  2. There can be many types of solutions with different kinds of solutes and solvents. See if you can think of any examples and see some of the provided examples below

Although there are many different kinds of solutions. The most common that we will work with are ones in which the solvent is some liquid. The rest of this unit will deal with only this type of solution.
